
Pamela Krause,
Head Coach of Girls
Crew
Pam started
coaching in 1976 for both the boys
and girls novice teams. She then
went on to become assistant coach
of the boys, and in 1983 was
appointed head coach of boys after
her grandfather, Ken Burns, the
founder of Shrewsbury Crew in
1937, passed away. She was head
boys coach until retiring in the
spring of 2003.
She came back in
the fall of 2005 when her
replacement left for Florida. Pam
is currently the head coach of the
girls program and chooses to work
with the junior varsity and
novices.
Pam is a physical
education teacher at SHS, and has
a coaching certificate from the
National Federation
Interscholastic Coaches
Association. She was the high
school’s head coach of field
hockey for 8 years, assistant
coach of gymnastics, and a Central
Mass field hockey referee for 11
years. She has also run
intramural fall and summer learn
to row programs for the town of
Shrewsbury.
Pam is also on the
executive board for the QRA, and
was a past president of the
organization. She has been active
in the QRA hosting the Eastern
Sprints since the 1970’s. She was
on the building committee for the
DRC expansion project. She also
apprenticed under Joseph Garofalo,
racing shell boat-builder at
Worcester Oar and Paddle.
